With the amount of malicious software out there it is wise to have a good periodic backup plan in place. This is a good idea for the fact that 95% of camcorder and cameras are digital which are transferred straight to the pc or mac and could be lost forever without a backup. Software is not the only thing that could cause data loss hardware failure could as well. Best to have peace of mind with a backup than hoping nothing goes wrong without one.
